Cross-border telework: signature of a framework agreement
The French authorities have signed the Framework agreement on cross-border telework, which came into force on July 1, 2023.
This agreement provides that an employee who teleworks less than 50% of his/her working time in a member state of the agreement for a company established in another member state of the agreement may continue to benefit from the social security coverage of the member state where the employer is established. When the employee works for more than 50% of his/her working time in the member state where the employer is not established, he/she will have to get social security coverage from the member state of residence.
To which countries does this agreement apply?
This agreement applies to the member States. The member states on 17th of July 2023 are Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.
Who is this agreement intended for?
This agreement applies to all employees working in several member states. Their place of residence is in a member state and their employer or company has its registered office in the territory of another member state.
What is the duration of this agreement?
The agreement is valid for 5 years and is renewable.
